NGERS and CPRS PDF Print E-mail

The Federal Government is responsible for the following initiatives in relation to climate change:

  • The National Greenhouse Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERS) has become effective as of 1 July 2008;
  • The Carbon Polution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) will be introduced on 1 July 2010.

As a result, a number of organisations are already required to monitor their environmental footprint and will have to put in place active measures to reduce it in 2010.

Forrestria™ can help in both of these cases:

  • NGERS - the open architecture of the product allows it to be easily interfaced with other enterprise systems, thus providing an effective mechanism for data collection relating to ICT power consumption.  Furthermore, since Forrestria™ is an Australian product, any changes can be developed, tested and implemented within very short timeframes;
  • CPRS - for service-oriented organisations, e.g. banks, Government, etc., ICT power consumption can reach 30-40% of the total consumption, since there are no carbon-intensive manufacturing processes.  By implementing consistent power usage policies organisations can significantly reduce their carbon footprint.
